Providing reassuringly safe work environments
For public bodies, we understand that health and safety is of paramount importance. From government departments, police, transportation as well as civic offices, compliance with the new EMF directive will be required to meet health and safety standards for these organisations, as well as to reassure your staff that they are not being exposed to excessive levels of electromagnetic interference.
There are two main sources of EMI in government buildings; the interference to electronics and data caused by raised ELF (or AC fields) from a combination of transformers, service panels and conduits, and external interference caused by RF, or external power sources such as railways. These need to be considered both in a new building during the design phase to avoid shielding installation where possible, and in existing buildings where new tenants, a renovation, or a power change can significantly alter and sometimes increase the magnetic load on building occupants and their equipment.
Intentional Electromagnetic Interference (IEMI) threats are relatively new, but as the costs of real estate assets rise together with cost cutting measures, transformers are being located within the buildings themselves. We have carried out assessments for many public organisations to ensure immunity from IEMI.
