Compliance Engineering International was the EMI consultant for the East West Interconnector (EWIC) – a 500 MW high voltage direct current (HVDC) link between the electricity transmission grids of Ireland and Great Britain supporting, EIRGRID?s aim to increase competition, security and the development of renewable energy. It is one of the largest voltage source conversion (VSC) HVDC links in operation worldwide. The CEI team was proud to work on this prestigious project, which won the Best Engineering Project 2014 at both the Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards and the Irish Building and Design Awards. This key project supports the wider aim to generate 40% of electricity demand from renewable sources by 2020.
